Course Description

This course examines the history and theology of the Kingdom of God, for the purpose of equipping and motivating students to be fruitful participants within this kingdom. The course begins with a chronological study of the development of the Kingdom of God theme through the Old Testament. It then progresses to a more specific study of the elements that make up Jesus' definition of the Kingdom of God and its implications for us as His followers.

Course Objectives

  • To understand the origin and development of the Kingdom of God as seen through the history of the Old Testament
  • To understand the mindset of first-century Israel in regard to the Kingdom of God
  • To recognize the various elements of the Kingdom of God in Jesus' teaching and to be able to apply these elements to our life and ministry
  • To have a clear grasp of the connection between the Kingdom of God and the Church

  • The Bible (more than one translation is highly recommended)
  • The Kingdom of God, by John Bright
